Behind the scenes... 1 hour to You = 3,5 hours for me !!!

I have been asked by a few people... I think this is because a lot of the time all some people consider is covered in the charge is an hourly rate. The prices I charge are pretty standard and even less for the industry locally, so if another face painter is offering a much cheaper rate, ask yourself how she could possibly be covering all the above costs and still earn herself some money.
She will want to make some money, so maybe she doesn’t have insurance which she pays for, maybe she doesn’t go on training courses, or they are not registred business. Whatever the reason, you get what you pay for.

I think the easiest way is explaining you, for what exactly you paying.

YOUR BOOKING :

  • Enquiry and completing the booking: 20 minutes /2 hours depending on the customer or event!

  • Designing faces to match your theme or researching faces for your event: around 2 hours- sometimes more if theme is difficult

  • The night before your party or event carefully, cleaning of kit, washing and drying every box. Every paint brush. Every stencil. Wiping down every container of paint. Then comes the disinfecting process. Everything in my kit must be wiped down, and sprayed with a ridiculously expensive product that is specifically created for makeup to kill any germs that may lurk about. Also restocking paints, glitter and organizing herself to ensure she knows the best route to your event and that everything is in order: 1/1,5 hours

  • Packing the car, and travelling to your event: Up to 1 hour.

  • Set up time: around 15 minutes.

  • Finally PAINTING AT YOUR PARTY !!!

  •  Pack up after party 15 minutes

  •  Traveling home or to the next booking. 1 hour.

  • Order any supplies used at your party or event. I also travel faraway for Face Painting courses.

  • That’s a lot more than just a couple of hours face painting!

RUNNING A FACE PAINING/BODY ART BUSINESS

  • Face paints, brushes, glitters, stencils and other supplies you see on the day. I invest a lot into my kits. I use only high quality, hypoallergenic professional cosmetic face paints. It is unfortunately pretty costly. A single 30 gram pan can be 20GBP! Add that up with the 100+ colors I have in my kits, and you can see how it gets expensive.

  • Cleaning equipment and supplies.

  • Public Liability Insurance

  • Personal DBS clearance (this is a legal requirement if u working with kids)

  • Website

  • Business phone line/mobile

  • Business cards, banners, leaflets and other advertising material

  • Car running costs & car insurance with business use, and car advetising

  • Uniform

  • A table and chairs

  • Equipment for working outside eg. Gazebo and lighting

  • Ongoing training and development

That’s a lot right? Well this is a list just from memory so I am sure I could add more, but the point is, I don’t walk away with £60 from a two hour party!
